Solar PV Installations

Update December 2011
Have you had a Solar PV System installed before the 12th December 2011 deadline to beat the feed-in tariff reduction?

Has the Solar PV company you used rushed through your job and left you with a badly installed inefficient system with dangerous and incorrect electrical work. There is a high chance that this has happenned to you as Solar PV companies rushed to beat the feed-in tariff cut and in doing so left you with a badly installed system.

At Stirling Electrical Services we have a wide range of experience not only on the electrical work associated with Solar PV systems but also on the whole system including inverter and panels.

We know how long a system takes to install and what safety measures stipulated by regulations should be put in place on your system and we have been shocked by the bad standards we have witnessed by installers over the past year and very shocked by the shortcuts they have taken on safety measures as they try to save costs and maximise their profits.

If you are concerned about how your Solar PV system has been installed or if is not running as efficiently as you think it should be then please contact us and we can discuss your concerns over the phone for free and if required we can then discuss further with you if a site visit is required.

Electricity is dangerous and can kill, some of the installers we have come across recently do not care for your safety.

News Release June 2011
Fallin based electrical contractor Stirling Electrical Services Ltd. (SES) have added to their core services with the introduction of Solar Photovoltaic (PV) installations.

Solar PV is a renewable energy technology capable of generating electricity from daylight. The electricity can then be used in the home, with any surplus being exported back to the National Grid.

Solar PV is more affordable than you might think. After the initial setup costs, the homeowner will save on any electricity the system produces, plus they will benefit from a generous government-backed scheme where they can receive payment for the energy generated.

The roof mounted solar panels connect via an inverter to the electrics in your home and therefore to the National Grid. This means that any surplus electricity produced by the system that is not needed in your home can be exported back to the grid, with owners receiving payment from energy suppliers. The financial benefits of having a MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) approved Solar PV installed are as follows:

1. Generation Tariff - a set rate paid by the energy supplier for each unit (or kWh) of electricity generated. This rate will change each year for new entrants to the scheme but once you join you will continue on the same tariff for 25 years in the case of Solar PV.

2. Export Tariff - you will receive a further 3p per kWh from your energy supplier for each unit you export back to the electricity grid, when it is not used in your home.

3. Energy Bill Savings - you will save on your electricity bills, because generating electricity to power your appliances means you do not have to buy as much electricity from your energy supplier. The amount you save will vary depending how much of the electricity you use in your home.

SES director Scott McLean explained "As a company we carry out electrical maintenance, installation and testing work throughout Scotland and offering Solar PV installations was a natural progression for us as we look to embrace sustainable energy solutions.

We have already invested in and implemented a Solar PV training scheme for our electricians and we are now working on Solar PV installations across the country. We are well positioned to expand in this field as the market grows and this will also have employment benefits to the Central Scotland area, as well as contributing to the recovery of the Scottish economy.

Working closely with our MCS approved partners, we offer the full design, installation and commissioning package to help clients take advantage of this new technology."
