Electrical Services - Building Warrants
Scottish Building Standards - Building Warrants In Scotland
On 1st May 2005 new building regulations came into force in Scotland, with more stringent rules for
electrical work carried out as part of work covered by a building warrant.
Stirling Electrical Services Ltd. have been appointed as an Approved Body and we employ Approved
Certifiers of Construction (Electrical Installations to BS7671), under the new Local Authority
Building Warrant Scheme, which is the Certification of Construction (Electrical Installations to BS7671).
Electrical Installations Certification involved within Building Warrant work in domestic and
non-domestic should now be completed by an Electrical Approved Body and Certifier under the
new Scottish Building Regulations 2004.
Stirling Electrical Services Ltd. can now carry out this work for customers throughout Scotland
and we will provide full electrical installation and the necessary building standards certification
required under the new scheme, allowing the process of your local authority passing the building
warrant work, much easier and less time consuming and at less expense to you the customer.
When is a Building Warrant required?
A building warrant is normally required if you intend to erect, alter, extend, demolish or
change the use of any structure. It is the building owner's responsibility to enquire whether
a building warrant or any other permission is required prior to the commencement of any
building operations.
